A Brief History of the National Statistics Month
- The National Statistics Month was first observed in 1990, following the issuance of Presidential Proclamation No. 647 by then-President Corazon C. Aquino on September 20, 1990.
- The proclamation declared October of every year as National Statistics Month, aiming to promote, enhance, and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to various sectors of society.
- Over the years, NSM has grown into a significant event, fostering cooperation and support from the general public in upgrading the quality and standard of statistics in the Philippines.

- This year’s theme highlights the transformative power of digital tools and platforms in modernizing our statistical systems.
- By adopting advanced technologies, we can significantly improve the accuracy, timeliness, and accessibility of statistical data.

- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) enjoins all government agencies, local government units, academic institutions, and the private sector to actively participate in this year’s celebration.
